Who is Marley Doulas?
Hello, it is so lovely to have you on my website! I am Marley Jones, founder of Marley Doulas.
Hopefully this helps you get to know a bit about me.
I am a fully-insured Doula, and former NHS Midwife. I moved out of London 6 months ago, and back to Surrey, where I spent a lot of my childhood growing up. I am based in Haslemere, hence the play on my unusual name of Marley (given just how many there are here; Marley Lane, Marley Common, Marley Flowers, the list goes on!), but I would love to continue to provide packages across South London as well as Surrey.
My choice to leave the NHS was not an easy one, but my desire to provide birth-changing support to as many women as I can reach, exceeded anything I have felt before. I am an extremely experienced Birth professional, Doula and Midwife.
My main goal as an empowered woman myself, is to empower women, creating meaningful relationships with mothers and families, which aren't time pressured by other factors or complications. Birth is one of the most beautiful things you can imagine, but it is also a hugely vulnerable time for women and their families. I will be here to support you, however that may look. If that is rubbing your back and holding your hair back, providing tailored education or the complete opposite, and preventing your partner from keeling over (honestly you're not alone!), I am here to adapt to your needs and be with you along the way. I want to use my knowledge to help create the most positive experience possible, combining my knowledge of the NHS services, alongside my calm, caring, dependable personality, to help change lives and give everyone the opportunity to reflect on their birth and feel in control, content and proud of themselves.
My life;
Growing up with just my mum from age 3, my main priority was always to become a woman who she would be proud of. I couldn't have wished for a better relationship with my mum and I can now see just how important those early years are.
Aged 16, I fundraised to take a trip to Malawi in Africa. At the time, it was the poorest country in Africa and it was here, whilst spending time volunteering in their hospital and orphanage and meeting an incredible woman called Elizabeth (who solely ran the only orphanage in Malawi at the time, and cared for each and every baby as though they were her own), that my life changed. From that day on, I dedicated myself to supporting and encouraging women.
After my 18th Birthday, I moved back to London and was the first person in my family to go to University (let alone a medical degree!). I achieved a First Class Honors Degree in Midwifery, and secured a place as a Midwife at the second best renowned hospital in the world for Maternity care.
By 23, I was working as a Band 7 Midwife. Having worked in three of the largest units in the UK, achieving countless CPD qualifications and having worked in all areas of maternity, I decided it was time to leave the NHS, and follow my dream.
This little business has been my goal for the longest time and to be able to share it with you, means the world to me. I've created many special relationships, and helped to change many families' lives across the past 7 years, and it is time for me to do this in a non-rushed, non-pressure environment now. This is where the magic can truly happen, and I know, if you choose me as your doula, I will promise to give you my all, and together we can create a beautiful experience.
