Who is Marley Doulas?
Hello, it is so lovely to have you on my website! I am Marley Jones, founder of Marley doulas. Hopefully this helps you get to know a bit about me.
I am a fully-insured Doula, and former NHS Midwife. I moved out of London 6 months ago, and back to Surrey, where I spent a lot of my childhood growing up. I am based in Haslemere, hence the play on my unusual name of Marley (given just how many there are here; Marley Lane, Marley Common, Marley Flowers, the list goes on!), but I would love to continue to provide packages across South London as well as Surrey.

FAQs
A doula is a person who specialises in supporting birthing people and their families, during the antenatal, postnatal and birth period. They are here to listen to you, comfort you, help advocate for you and be with you throughout your pregnancy and postnatal period. They are not medically trained professionals (although I am), but they do hold unique and invaluable skills to support you along your pregnancy journey.
Infact, research has indicated, the use of a doula may reduce the risk of an assisted birth (both instrumental birth and caesarean section birth), reduce the need for anaesthesia in labour or an epidural, shorten the labour, and increase parental experience.

Thank you so much for getting in touch and I can't wait to meet you! I will get back to you as soon as I can. I aim for this to always be within 24 hours. If you'd like more information, I can answer any questions about packages or bookings over email or text. If you'd like to book a free consultation, prior to purchasing a package, we'll arrange this as soon as possible via Zoom or video call, at a time that best suits you.
'On call', means I will be available for your labour and birth 24/7, between specified dates. It also means that I will be available for you exclusively; therefore, when you book me as your birth doula (Stork package), I am guaranteed to be able to attend your labour and birth whenever you need me to. All you need to do is call me, day or night, when you are ready (usually this is when you are in 'established' labour, but it may be before this) and I will come to wherever you are to support you from that moment, until your baby is born.
You know your body best. If this is your first baby, you might find things don't tend to start until closer or shortly after your due date. Lessening the pressure of 'people waiting for you to have a baby', will in turn help you labour. If you've had babies before, you may know you tend to go into labour at 38 weeks, therefore pick this date. Or, perhaps you have chosen a set day for birth or induction and you'd like me to support you from then.
There will be a standard rate charged for each day which I am 'on call' for your birth, and then a separate set rate for labour itself. (i.e. If you asked me to be on call from 39 weeks, and laboured at 39+2 weeks gestation, you'd pay for 2 days 'on call', and then for the birth). This aims to keep costs as low as possible for you.
Everyone is different, and that's super important to remember. You will be able to contact me and your maternity triage (NHS) 24/7, about your surges or contractions and when you suspect you may be going into labour. First babies can often take their time, as your body is doing something new and it needs to learn, but this is all completely normal. We will discuss birthing and labour further, during your appointments.
I am very familiar with; Epsom & St. Helier Hospitals - Surrey, Frimley Park Hospital - Surrey, The John Radcliffe Hospital - Oxford, Guys and St. Thomas's Hospitals - Westminster, St.Georges Hospital - Tooting, The Portland Hospital - Great Portland Street, University College London Hospital (UCLH) - Tottenham Court Road, The Royal London Hospital - Whitechapel, The Barkentine Birth Centre - Poplar and Whipps Cross Hospital - Leytonstone. I am more than happy to work in any hospital unit, stand-alone birth centre, or in your home.
I'd be more than happy to provide any extra support you feel you may need, all you need to do is ask me!
I also collaborate with Dr Kiran Gill, a doctor of Chiropractics. Our services work in harmony with each other to really create the full monty. If you would like to combine our packages, then please do let me know through my enquiries section. We will be more than happy to arrange this for you at The Prenatal Centre in either Haslemere, or Fulham.
